Value of Iran’s Trade with 15 Neighbors Rises by 14.4%
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than $58.8 billion worth of goods was exchanged between Iran and 15 neighboring states in the previous Iranian year (March 21, 2022 - March 20, 2023), showing a 14.4% rise compared to a year earlier, an official said.
The exchange of goods with 15 neighboring states in this period accounted for 52 percent of the country’s non-oil trade, the spokesperson for the Trade Promotion Commission of the House of Industry, Mine and Trade, Rouhollah Latifi, said.
Regarding the non-oil trade with the neighboring states, he said over 96 million tons of commodity, valued at more than $58.84 billion were exchanged between Iran and fifteen neighboring states last year.
“Of the total value of goods exchanged, Iran exported 75,184,448 tons of commodity, valued at $30,537,406,659, registering a 19 percent decline as compared to the last year’s corresponding period,” he noted, IRNA reported.
Latifi also stated that Iran imported over 21 million tons of goods, valued at more than $28.3 billion, showing a 10 percent growth as compared to the same period last year.
The former spokesman of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) also noted that Iran’s non-oil trade with the neighboring states accounted for 52 percent of the country’s total trade.
In this period, Iraq, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan and Pakistan were Iran’s top export target markets, Latifi said.
