Stating that a part of the country’s infrastructural transport projects will be implemented using domestic resources, Danesh Jafari raised the possibility of using foreign resources provided by partners such as India and Russia to finance these joint projects.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he pointed to some bottlenecks on three routes of the North-South Corridor in Iran and added that the use of the high capacity of foreign companies and also the Iranian private sector can accelerate the implementation of these transport projects optimally.

To activate all capacities of the North-South Corridor, the country requires strengthening the transport network in the Caspian Sea through the creation of more contacts with the Russian ports and other Caspian Sea littoral states, Danesh Jafari continued.

Given the strong position of the Central Asian states in the rail transport field, there are more opportunities in taking advantage of the rail capacity in the North-South Corridor, he said, adding that significant projects exist in eastern Iran for strengthening and developing transport in the North-South Corridor.

A major part of requirements of the regional transport can be met using the capacity of Bandar Abbas to Incheh Boroun railroad, Turkmenistan and also Sarakhs, he stated.

Iran’s Transport Development Fund is a new fund launched with the purpose of strengthening the possibility of financing projects in the transportation field.
