Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Morteza Shahmirzaei said that 27 million tons of various petrochemical products, valued at about $16 billion, were exported from the country, $14 billion of which was registered at Integrated FOREX Management System.

He pointed to the slogan of the current year namely ‘Inflation Control and Production Growth” by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and stated that the National Petrochemical Company will make its utmost effort in the current year to materialize the sublime guidelines of the Leader in the petrochemical sector.

Shahmirzaei further pointed out that 10 new petrochemical units would be put into operation in the current year of 1402 (started March 21, 2023).

Once the 10 petrochemical units are put into operation, the country’s production capacity of petrochemicals will surpass 96 million tons a year, the CEO of NPC highlighted.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Shahmirzaei pointed to the self-sufficiency in the country's development of the petrochemical industry and noted that about 75 to 80 percent of petrochemical products are produced in the country, with no need to be imported from other countries.
