Iran’s Balance of Trade with Neighbors Hits +$2.5 Billion in 11 Months

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesman for the Trade Promotion Commission of Iran’s House of Trade said that the country’s positive trade balance with neighbors has reached $2.5 billion in the first 11 months of current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2022 to February 20, 2023).

Iran’s total exports to 15 neighboring states in this period reached about $28 billion, Seyyed Rouhollah Latifi said, adding that the country’s balance of trade with its neighbors showed +$2.520 billion due to more exports volume than imports.

Iran and the 15 neighboring countries exchanged 88,153,464 tons of goods, valued at $53,364,680,000, from March 21, 2022 to February 20, 2023, registering a 16 percent hike as compared to the last year’s corresponding period, he added.

Of the total volume, Iran exported 68,802,000 tons of goods, valued at $27,942,433,000, to 15 neighboring states, showing a 20 percent growth, he said, adding that the country imported 19,352,000 tons of goods, valued at $25,422,246,595, from the neighboring states, showing a 12 percent hike as compared to a year earlier.

Iraq, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Afghanistan, Pakistan, Oman and Russia were Iran’s seven top export target markets respectively, he said, adding that Iraq and the United Arab Emirates imported $9.381 billion and $6.901 billion worth of products from Iran in this period.
