Speaking at a session of the Foreign Economic Relations Coordinating Headquarters in Tehran on Monday, Mehdi Safari said, “With the imminent visit of the Pakistani finance minister to Iran, it is hoped that the level of trade and economic ties between the two countries will increase.”

Despite the existence of some restrictions for improving and enhancing all-out ties between the two countries, it is hoped that the imminent visit of the Pakistani finance minister to Iran will materialize economic objectives between the two countries with a focus on the Joint Economic Commission, the deputy foreign minister reiterated.

Improving road infrastructural facilities, developing customs services, strengthening the exchange of goods at the border, facilitating the trade laws and signing joint memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in various fields are among issues that would be discussed in line with bolstering the economic ties with Pakistan.

Turning to the salient achievements of knowledge-based companies in producing and exporting various products, Safari noted that $600 million worth of products of these companies were exported to foreign countries in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 to December 22, 2022).

The 19th session of the Foreign Economic Relations Coordinating Headquarters was held at the venue of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, headed by Safari, with a focus on the latest situation of Iran and Pakistan Joint Economic Commission in particular.
