Raisi said that "the enemy," alluding to the United States, which has put "draconian sanctions" on Iran, is now admitting that its sanctions have been a "abject failure" in a speech given during a visit to the Robat Karim County in Tehran Province.
Raisi added that another reason why Iran's enemies are upset is because they acknowledge Iran as a leading country in many fields.
He vowed that the Iranian people would not allow the enemies to undermine the freedom and independence of the Islamic republic, IRNA reported.
He underlined that the Iranian people would not be duped by the enemies' "slogan of freedom," as they had gained freedom after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
Raisi urged vigilance against those trying to sow division in Iranian society and who are aiming to undermine Iranians' religious beliefs.
The United States reinstated its unilateral sanctions against Iran in May 2018 after Tehran withdrew from a nuclear agreement reached in 2015 between Tehran and world powers. The sanctions aim to totally ban Iran's crude oil exports to force it into hammering out a new nuclear agreement on the US terms.
