Iran Sends Condolences on Death of Belarusian FM
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian offered his condolences on the death of his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makei.
In a message on Saturday night, the top Iranian diplomat said he is deeply saddened by the Belarusian foreign minister’s death.
Expressing condolences to the government and nation of Belarus, Amirabdollahian paid tribute to late Makei for his sincere efforts and precious role in the expansion of relations between Tehran and Minsk during his tenure.
Belarus's long-standing foreign minister died on Saturday, two days before he was meant to meet his Russian counterpart.
Makei had held his post since 2012.
Makei, 64, attended a conference of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) - a military alliance of several post-soviet states - in Yerevan earlier this week and was due to meet Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on Monday.
