Iranian President Goes to UN in Pursuit of Fair Int’l Order
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Rejecting any plan for a meeting with American officials on the sideline of the UN General Assembly, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi left Tehran for New York with an agenda to pursue “fair international order through economic multilateralism”.
Speaking to reporters before departing Tehran for New York on Monday morning, Raisi said he would use the UNGA opportunity to declare Iran’s rational and logical stances.
“Since the media space in the world is dominated by the big powers and the hegemony system, such opportunities should be used to explicate the Islamic Republic of Iran’s stances and publicize the cruelties to the great Iranian nation,” the president stated.
Pointing to plans for meetings with the heads of states on the sidelines of the assembly at the UN, Raisi reiterated that he will not hold any meeting or talks with the Americans and has no plans to have such meetings either.
The president also referred to a planned meeting with the Iranian nationals residing in the US, noting that he will outspokenly defend the great Iranian nation’s rights and talk about the cruelty and corruption the world is suffering from.
In a meeting with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Sunday, the Iranian president gave a report on his meetings and the agreements signed during his stay in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand, where he attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, and outlined his plans in the trip to New York.
