Iran Decries Sanctions on Mali
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Highlighting the futility of the policy of imposing sanctions against nations, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian deplored the foreign sanctions against Mali.
Speaking at a joint press conference with his Malian counterpart Abdoulaye Diop, held in Bamako on Tuesday, Amirabdollahian said the experience has shown that the policy of imposing sanctions against other nations has gone nowhere.
He also denounced the unconstructive sanctions that have been imposed on Mali.
The Iranian foreign minister then noted that foreign interference in the internal affairs of Mali and support for terrorist groups would only complicate the security conditions in the region and lead to instability in Mali.
Highlighting the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s plans to broaden Tehran’s economic, defense and educational cooperation with Bamako, Amirabdollahian expressed hope that an Iranian exhibition of scientific and industrial products would be established in Mali.
Interaction between Iran and Mali in international organizations is among the major fields of cooperation between the two nations, he added.
Heading a high-ranking economic delegation comprised of representatives from the private and state-run sectors of Iran, Amirabdollahian has embarked on a tour of Africa that will later take him to Tanzania and Zanzibar.
