Leaders Resolved to Revitalize Iran-Oman Economic Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The president of Iran and the sultan of Oman reaffirmed their determination to broaden ties between the two countries and open a new chapter in economic partnership.

Iran and Oman issued a joint statement at the conclusion of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s one-day visit to Muscat on Monday.

In the statement, the two Muslim neighbors have stressed the importance of redoubled efforts to ensure security and stability in the region and the world, and coordination and consultation between the two countries in various regional and international forums.

What follows is the text of the statement, released by the Iranian president’s website:

“This visit took place based on strong historical ties between two friendly nations and aims to strengthen lasting bilateral relations and mutual respect between the leaders and nations, which has strengthened the principles of religion, brotherhood and good neighborliness.

In the official negotiation meeting held between Ayatollah Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and His Highness Haitham bin Tarik, Sultan of Oman, the horizons of joint cooperation and bilateral relations and its development, especially in matters related to trade cooperation and joint investment in various fields and coordination in matters that are in the interests of the two friendly countries and their nations, were examined.

The leaders of the two countries expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation and decided to expand this cooperation and open new chapters of economic partnership. The leaders of the two countries also expressed satisfaction with the agreements reached at the level of joint commissions for cooperation between the two countries in various fields and considered it necessary to hold them regularly.

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and His Excellency the Sultan emphasized the positive and constructive role of the private sector of the two countries and expressed hope that the activities of the private sector would increase the volume of investment and trade between the two countries. They also welcomed the signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding to institutionalize cooperation in the fields of investment, sport, agriculture, fisheries, animal husbandry, maritime transport, logistics, ports and oil and gas.

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and his brother, His Excellency Sultan, discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest and expressed satisfaction with the level of political consultation and coordination between the two countries at various levels.

The leaders of the two countries stressed the importance of redoubled efforts to ensure security and stability in the region and the world, and coordination and consultation between the two countries in various regional and international forums to ensure security and stability in the region and the world.

His Highness the Sultan of Oman praised the view of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and his government in adopting a policy of constructive, active and comprehensive interaction and openness with all countries of the world, especially its neighbors, based on Iran's sustainable policy. This perspective leads to positive and constructive relations based on mutual respect, cooperation and good neighborliness to develop common economic, commercial and cultural interests and helps to strengthen regional security and stability. The two sides also stressed the importance of fighting all forms and types of terrorism and extremism.

At the end of the visit, Ayatollah Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, thanked His Highness Haitham bin Tarik Sultan of Oman and the government and people of this country for the warm welcome and hospitality and invited him to visit the Islamic Republic of Iran. This fraternal invitation was warmly welcomed.
