Nearly 700 Coronavirus Patients Hospitalized in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Health Ministry said some 700 coronavirus patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country over the past 24 hours.

Speaking at a daily press conference on Tuesday, Sima Sadat Lari said the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has surpassed 1,481,300 after the detection of 7,640 new cases since Monday noon.

Of the new cases detected since yesterday, 697 patients have been admitted to the hospital, she added.

At least 1,266,518 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman said.

She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 58,625, saying the disease has taken the lives of 89 patients over the past 24 hours.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,762 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.

The spokeswoman also said more than 9,779,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 107 million and the death toll has exceeded 2.33 million.
