Nearly 1.23 Million Recover from Coronavirus in Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 1,229,000 coronavirus positive cases have recovered from the infectious disease in Iran, the Health Ministry said.
Speaking at a daily press conference on Wednesday, Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said at least 1,229,391 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across the country.
She also put the death toll from the coronavirus at 58,189, saying the disease has taken the lives of 79 patients over the past 24 hours.
The number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 1,438,280 following the detection of 6,870 new cases since Tuesday noon, the spokeswoman added.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,838 patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.
In separate comments on Wednesday, Iranian Health Minister Saeed Namaki said the country will be receiving 4.2 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine in February through the World Health Organization's COVAX program.
The secretary of Biotechnology Development Headquarters of the Iranian Vice Presidency for Science and Technology has also unveiled an estimated timetable for a countrywide vaccination program for the coronavirus according to a list of priorities in target groups, saying the general public will have access to vaccine in February or March 2022.
