Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held a telephone conversation with his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on Saturday.

In the conversation, Zarif congratulated the Qatari nation and government on the start of the holy Muslim month of Ramadan.

The two diplomats also discussed the latest developments in Afghanistan, and Iran's efforts to help build political consensus and form an inclusive government in Kabul.

Iran has ramped up diplomatic efforts in recent weeks to help Afghanistan overcome the political crises that arose after the presidential election and contribute to peaceful dialogue among Afghan groups.
