Embassy Warns Iranian Expatriates in Hungary of Coronavirus

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Embassy in Budapest urged all expatriates living in Hungary to avoid traveling as an emergency situation was declared in the Central European country to contain the outbreak of coronavirus.

In a statement on Thursday, the Iranian embassy pointed to the state of emergency in Hungary and called on the Iranian nationals, especially students, to avoid travelling inside and outside the country.

Hungary’s government declared a state of emergency to help deal with the coronavirus outbreak, closing university campuses and banning large gatherings.

“These measures are unprecedented in the three decades since the fall of communism,” Gergely Gulyas, the minister in charge of the prime minister’s office, told reporters on Wednesday in Budapest. Hungary has registered 13 cases of the coronavirus and has 69 people in quarantine.
