Iran, Bangladesh Discuss Rohingya Crisis
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign ministers of Iran and Bangladesh held talks about the miseries of Rohingya Muslims who have been displaced by the Myanmar army’s crackdown.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held a meeting with his Bangladeshi counterpart Abul Kalam Abdul Momen in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The two ministers discussed the issues and problems faced by the Rohingya Muslim people who have taken refuge in Bangladesh after being displaced from Myanmar.
They also talked about the cooperation between Tehran and Dhaka in international and Islamic organizations, as well as the unity among Muslim nations.
Zarif and Abdul Momen hailed the high level of political ties between Iran and Bangladesh, and called for the promotion of economic and trade cooperation between the two Muslim nations.
They also stressed the need for efforts to boost commercial ties and support cooperation between the private sectors of the two countries.
Heading a high-ranking delegation, Zarif left Tehran for Dhaka on Tuesday to hold talks with senior officials of the South Asian nation.
The Iranian top diplomat is also going to attend the third IORA Blue Economy Ministerial Conference in Dhaka.
Zarif will later travel to Jakarta for talks with top Indonesian officials.
