Syria Army Deals Hard Blow to Terrorists in Idlib, Hama

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian military forces targeted the positions of al-Nusra Front in Idlib and Hama in response to terrorists’ continued breaches of a de-escalation zone agreement in the provinces.

Syrian troops pounded the gatherings of the terrorists in al-Hwaija village, Hama, killing and injuring scores of them, SANA news agency reported.

The terrorists’ supply routes in the direction of Tal Wasset and al-Ziyara villages in al-Ghab plain were also cut off by the Syrian military.

The militants were also targeted in the surroundings of Kafrsajna and Maaret Herma in Maaret al-Numan area in Idlib’s southern countryside, the report added.

Large groups of the militants were killed and injured during the counterattacks.

The areas where the clashes broke out are located in a planned buffer zone, which surrounds Idlib and also parts of the adjacent provinces of Aleppo and Hama.

Under a deal reached following a meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in September, all militants should have withdrawn from the demilitarization zone by October 15.

However, al-Qaeda-linked Takfiri terrorists said they refuse to either leave the buffer zone or hand over their weapons.
