Al-Nusra Militants Suffer Major Losses in Hama

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – In response to Al-Nusra Front terrorists’ breaches of a de-escalation zone agreement in Hama, Syrian forces targeted the positions of the militants in the western-central province, inflicting major losses on them.

Al-Nusra militants on Saturday attempted to sneak into the areas of al-Latamneh, Kfar Zeita and Habeet in the northern countryside of Hama, but were pushed back by Syrian troops, SANA reported.

During the counterattack, a large number of the terrorists were killed and injured.

A number of vehicles and rocket launch-pads belonging to the militants were also destroyed in the attack, the report added.

The counterattack came after the militants attempted to target the army posts in the areas in violation of the de-escalation zone agreement reached following a meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi in September.

The Syrian government’s attacks on terrorists’ positions in Idlib and Hama come in the wake of reports that members of the Jabhat Fateh al-Sham Takfiri terrorist group, formerly known as al-Nusra Front, together with militants from the so-called Turkistan Islamic Party in Syria, are mounting chemical warheads on more than a hundred missiles in cooperation with European experts in Idlib.
