Saudi Arabia Confirms Oil Facilities near Riyadh Attacked
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Saudi Arabia said explosive-laden drones had struck oil pumping stations in the Riyadh region on Tuesday.
Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih confirmed the attack on two oil pumping stations, saying that it had not “disrupted” oil production or exports of crude and petroleum products, Reuters reported.
He, however, said the kingdom has stopped pumping crude oil on a major pipeline across the country after the retaliatory drone strikes.
Seven drones run by Yemeni armed forces carried out attacks against vital Saudi facilities in response to the Riyadh regime’s ongoing acts of aggression against Yemeni people.
A Yemeni military source told al-Masirah TV on Tuesday that the extensive military operation was conducted in retaliation for Saudi Arabia’s deadly military aggression and its siege of the impoverished Arabian Peninsula state.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, also warned that Yemeni forces stand ready “to execute more of these significant and tough strikes as long as the siege continues.”
Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the Saudi-led coalition for more than four years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.
According to a recent UN report, the combined death toll from the Saudi-led aggression and disease is 233,000, or 0.8 percent of Yemen's 30 million-strong population.
