Russian Diplomat Warns US against Military Scenario in Venezuela
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Moscow warns "hotheads" in the United States against a military scenario in Venezuela, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told reporters on Wednesday.
"I view US attempts to consolidate the anti-Chavez front [against Venezuela] from Latin American states with anxiety and concerns, this is an alarming trend," Ryabkov said, TASS news agency reported.
"Despite tough standoff, even the governments in Latin America, which have taken the most critical stance against Caracas, rule out an option of military intervention in Venezuela’s affairs. An attempt to use military force would be a catastrophic development."
"We warn ‘hotheads’ in Washington against such temptations," Ryabkov stressed.
