Iran Strongly Denies Danish Allegation of Assassination Plot

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry strongly rejected the allegation raised by Denmark that Tehran has plotted an unsuccessful attempt to assassinate an opposition figure in the European country.

In comments on Tuesday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi dismissed the claim that Iran has been behind an assassination plot in Denmark, saying such accusations are in line with the conspiracies and plots of the enemies of Iran who cannot stand the good and growing relations between Tehran and Europe in the current special situation.

The Danish government claimed on Tuesday that it had interrupted an “Iranian assassination plot” in the country and called for the European Union to respond.

Denmark’s Security and Intelligence services said they had arrested a Norwegian citizen of Iranian descent for allegedly planning the assassination of the leader of a separatist group that was behind a terrorist attack on a military parade in Iran’s Ahvaz on September 22 that killed civilians and military forces.

During the military parade in Ahvaz, Takfiri militants opened fired on military officials and ordinary people in the event. Twenty-five people died and 60 others were injured in the terrorist attack.
