“The era of coups is over and it is the people of countries who determine their government,” Vaezi said in Turkey, on the sidelines of the 26th Universal Postal Congress, held in Istanbul.
He also highlighted Iran’s support for Turkey’s legitimate government before and after the failed coup, and called for stronger cooperation between the two neighbors in various fields.
Back in September, Turkish President Recep Tayyib Erdogan thanked Iran for supporting the Ankara government in the early hours of July’s failed coup, saying Iran and Turkey can cooperate and play a “determining” role in defusing the ongoing crises and establishing security in the region, particularly in Syria and Iraq.
