Iran, Germany Sign MoU on Sports Cooperation
RIO DE JANEIRO (Tasnim) – President of the National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran Kioumars Hashemi and his German counterpart Alfons Hormann held a meeting in Rio De Janeiro.
According to Tasnim dispatches, the two officials, who are in Brazil for the Rio 2016 Olympics, stressed their resolve for promoting bilateral sports ties.
During the hour-long meeting, Hashemi and Hormann signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on enhanced cooperation in sports fields.
Based on the MoU, the two sides will collaborate in the fight against doping as well in technical areas like exchange of coaches, holding training camps and educational courses, and using one another’s experiences in various sports.
The MoU had been proposed during a visit to Tehran by Hormann back in May this year.
The 2016 Summer Olympic Games, which kicked off in Rio on Friday, will run until August 21.
