Thousands of monuments were stolen and destroyed, especially during the Daesh occupation of Iraqi cities in 2014, when the richest and most important regions of Iraq were captured," the diplomat stated, Sputnik News reported.
"Terrorist groups have long supplemented their financing by selling stolen, priceless cultural heritage objects to their international agents. I wish to call on the relevant organizations in Russia and in the world to help the Iraqi government return its historic heritage objects," Muhsin said.
