“Of course it’s horrible when something happens [violations of human rights] during an internal conflict, but it’s no less serious when something like this happens with violations in the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other states,” Lavrov said during a joint press conference in Moscow with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
Lavrov said that Turkey is playing a role in these violations, Sputnik News reported.
Lavrov also said the first report by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on foreign fighters in Syria lacked details.
“The first report was distributed not long ago in the [UN] Security Council. We believe it is extremely inconcrete,” Russian foreign minister said.
Lavrov said that he hoped the next report would be more direct and honest.
“There’s no need to take the ‘ostrich position’ as this is a very serious case to take such a politically correct attitude. Facts need to be provided to the Security Council members,” Lavrov added.
