In his meeting with PM Lee, Zarif underlined the existing capacities in different economic fields for the expansion of Tehran-Singapore cooperation after the recent nuclear deal (known as JCPOA) between Iran and world powers, which terminated all nuclear-related anti-Iran sanctions after its implementation on January 16.

The Singaporean PM, for his part, pointed to the termination of anti-Iran sanctions, and stressed that the Southeast Asian country is ready to promote its economic ties and cooperation with Iran in all fields under the new circumstances.

The two sides also conferred on regional and international developments.

Zarif also held a meeting with Parliament Speaker Halimah Yacob as his last official meeting in Singapore.

During the meeting, the two sides underlined the need for expansion of parliamentary and economic cooperation between the two states, and also discussed the ways to reinforce bilateral ties.

Halimah, in this meeting, congratulated Zarif on his success during the recent negotiations between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France, and Germany), which led to the lasting nuclear deal.

Before travelling to Singapore, Zarif also paid an official visit to Indonesia. He is scheduled to pay visits to Brunei, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand afterwards as part of an ongoing 11-day tour of southeastern Asia and Oceania.
