Syrian Jets Inflict Heavy Losses on Daesh in Aleppo

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Syrian Air Force targeted a command center of the Daesh (also known as ISIL) terrorists on the outskirts of the northwestern Aleppo province, leaving large groups of the militants dead or injured.

The command center of the Daesh terrorists was destroyed after Syrian warplanes late on Saturday heavily pounded the areas of Rasm al-Alam and al-Seen in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, Syria’s official SANA news agency reported Sunday.

Also, a number of pickup trucks equipped with heavy machine guns were destroyed during the raids.

In a separate development on Saturday, the Syrian army troops struck a major blow to al-Nusra Front terrorists in the area of al-Ameriyeh, Aleppo, claiming the lives of dozens of them.

The advances came days after the Syrian forces broke a long-running siege by Takfiri militants on the villages of al-Zahraa and Nubul, northwest of Aleppo.

Al-Zahraa and Nubul had been under siege since July 2012. But their residents vigorously resisted to the invaders.

Syria has been entangled in civil war since March 2011, with Takfiri terrorist groups like Daesh controlling parts of it, mostly in the east.

In the past five years, more than 250,000 people have died in Syria -overwhelmingly civilians- and around 4 million Syrians are now refugees in other countries. Around 8 million others have been displaced internally.
