Iran Condemns Nigeria Mosque Bombing

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned twin suicide bomb attacks on a mosque in the Mulai area of Nigeria's northeastern Borno State that killed at least 42 worshippers.

Marziyeh Afkham on Friday slammed the bombing as an “inhuman and unjustifiable” measure that slaughtered innocent people.

The spokeswoman also expressed sympathy with the bereaved families of the victims as well as the Nigerian government and nation.

She further emphasized the necessity for concerted action against terrorism and extremism all over the world.

At least 42 Nigerians lost their lives when two bombers, disguised as worshippers, exploded themselves at the place of worship in the western Molai neighborhood of the city of Maiduguri on Thursday.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, but among the suspects are the Boko Haram terrorist group, which has launched a large number of suicide attacks in the region over the past few months.
