Suspected suicide bombers targeted a mosque near Mulai, the Nigerian Premium Times reported on Thursday.

Citing an anonymous source in the Civilian Joint Task Force, the report said two blasts happened near a mosque during prayer time, with the security forces working at the scene.

Details of the casualty numbers could not be immediately ascertained, the report said, but added that "many people were killed," according to another source.

Unconfirmed reports emerged on Twitter suggesting that at least 26 people were killed and over two dozen injured in the bombings.

The mosque was "totally destroyed," according to this report.

Terrorists from the Boko Haram militant group have been operating in the country's northeast, hitting civilian targets including religious sites and markets.
