Anti-Israeli Rallies Held across Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Thousands of people held protest rallies across Iran to condemn the Israeli regime’s desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque and its daily attacks on Muslim worshippers in the highly respected place in Palestine.

Politics

After attending the Friday Prayers, the Iranian protesters took to streets in the capital, Tehran, and other provinces to decry the Israeli crimes against the Palestinian nation.

The rallies in Iran came after a fresh round of violent clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinians at Al-Aqsa Mosque, prompted by calls from Jewish fanatics to organize large-scale Jewish visits there to mark the beginning of the Jewish New Year Rosh Hashanah.

Israeli forces raided several neighborhoods across East Jerusalem late Thursday as clashes continued for the fourth consecutive day.

In the meantime, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, along with a number of other Palestinian groups, has called for a "day of rage" in Jerusalem following Friday prayers.

The Al-Aqsa mosque is considered to be the third holiest place of worship for Muslims. Tensions have been boiling for months at the site in Old Jerusalem, occupied by Israel since 1967.
