Zarif Lauds China’s Role in Iran Nuclear Talks
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif praised China for playing a major role in the nuclear negotiations between Tehran and six world powers and called on the Asian country to continue its role in the implementation of the agreement reached in Iran talks.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has very extensive political and economic relations as well as regional and international interaction with China,” Zarif said upon his arrival in the Chinese capital of Beijing.
“China, as a very influential member of the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), played a significant role in the nuclear negotiations,” he said, adding that the country is needed to continue this role in implementing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
The Iranian top diplomat also emphasized the need for further talks with Chinese officials over the JCPOA.
Heading a high-ranking delegation, Zarif arrived in Chinese capital city of Beijing on Monday at the invitation of the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
This is the first visit to China by Zarif after the conclusion of nuclear talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 on July 14 in the Austrian capital of Vienna.
Upon his arrival, Zarif was welcomed with the officials at the Chinese foreign ministry and Iran's Ambassador to Beijing Ali Asqhar Khani.
Also, Bangladesh will be the next destination of the top Iranian diplomat and his delegation.
