In a Monday ceremony attended by Iranian Deputy Power Minister for Electricity and Energy Affairs Houshang Falahatian, the wind turbine was unveiled and is due to be installed in a wind farm in Qazvin, 150 km west of the capital Tehran.
Iran had earlier purchased 8 wind turbines from Germany’s Fuhrlander, 6 of which were installed in wind farms, and the other two were reverse-engineered. The knowhow was transferred through a contract with the German firm.
During the ceremony, Managing Director of Iran’s MAPNA Group Abbas Aliabadi announced that the country will manufacture 25 MW and 45 MW portable turbines by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (ends in March).
The 45 MW turbines, to be fully built by MAPNA, are not under the license of any foreign company, Aliabadi said, adding that the latest Class E turbine technology is used in making the product.
MAPNA Group is a group of Iranian companies involved in construction and installation of energy production machinery, including boilers, gas and steam turbines and electrical generators.
