Iran to Equip Relief, Rescue Teams with Russian Choppers

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran plans to buy new Russian choppers for relief and rescue operations in the country, an Iranian official announced on Friday.

Head of Iran’s Red Crescent Society Amir Mohsen Ziaei, who is in Russia heading an Iranian delegation to attend Moscow MAKS-2015 air show, said Tehran plans to equip the society’s air fleet with advanced Russian choppers.

He added that the move is in line with Iran’s efforts to upgrade relief and rescue bodies' air fleet.

Earlier reports said that Tehran and Moscow are expected to sign an agreement on delivery of Sukhoi Superjet 100 passenger planes.

Also, Iranian Vice-President for Science and Technology Affairs Sorena Sattari said in an interview with Sputnik in Moscow that Tehran is keen on acquiring Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft.

MAKS-2015 opened on Tuesday on the airdrome of the Mikhail Gromov Flight Research Institute in the town of Zhukovsky to the southeast of Moscow. It will continue through August 30.

Organizers of the show expect a greater number of participants and visitors than the one reported at MAKS-2013.

MAKS-2015 is playing host to 150 companies from 23 foreign countries and over 580 companies from various regions of Russia.
