“Iran’s policy after the victory of the Islamic Revolution (in 1979) has (focused) on promoting and strengthening relations with African countries, including Ghana,” Larijani said in a meeting with Ghanaian Foreign Minister Hanna Tetteh in Tehran on Tuesday afternoon.

He added that in line with the policy, the Iranian parliament is ready to facilitate and accelerate cooperation between public and private sectors of the two countries.

Larijani further described trade and economic areas as the most important grounds for mutual cooperation between Tehran and Accra.

Iran has made great achievements in various agricultural and industrial fields, including dam construction and power generation, he said, adding Iran can share its experiences with Ghana in the areas.

Tetteh, for her part, praised the great potential to boost ties between the two nations, saying that the Ghanaian administration and parliament welcome further promotion of ties with the Islamic Republic.

Expansion of relations with African nations in all political, economic and cultural fields is top on the agenda of Iran's foreign policy.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, who took office in August 2013, has repeatedly stressed his government's interest in boosting relations with the African states.
