Speaking in a meeting with Afghan Minister of Public Health Ferozuddin Feroz in Tehran on Saturday evening, Larijani hailed the religious and cultural commonalities between the Iranian and Afghan nations as the grounds for establishing closer ties between the two governments.

“Since the needed grounds are ready for the promotion of bilateral relations, reciprocal visits and talks by the two countries’ officials and leaders will provide a great help in realizing potentials and their utilization in line with the two nation’s interests,” he noted.

Larijani further said the Iranian parliament is prepared to boost cooperation with the afghan parliament in a bid to facilitate relations between public and privates sectors of the two countries.

Feroz, for his part, praised Iran’s progress in the area of health care services, and said Afghanistan is willing to boost cooperation with the country in this area.

Earlier in April, Iran and Afghanistan signed two cooperation agreements as part of efforts to boost the relations between the two neighbors in various areas.

In a ceremony attended by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Afghan counterpart Ashraf Ghani, high-ranking officials from the two countries singed the documents.

Rouhani said at the time that Tehran and Kabul have agreed to boost cooperation in the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking.
