In his message, Larijani congratulated Berri and the country’s lawmakers on the anniversary of the Lebanese nation’s historic resistance against the Zionist regime of Israel.
He said the memorable event was the outcome of the sacrifices of the resistance fighters and unity among Lebanese leaders, including Berri and the Lebanese Resistance Movement Hezbollah chief Seyed Hassan Nasrallah.
Larijani also wished success and honor for his counterpart, the Lebanese members of parliament, and the great nation of Lebanon.
The Tel Aviv regime launched two wars on Lebanon in 2000 and 2006. About 1,200 Lebanese, most of them civilians, were killed in the 33-Day War of 2006.
On both occasions, however, Hezbollah fighters defeated the Israeli forces and Tel Aviv was forced to retreat without achieving any of its objectives.
The conflict also known as the July War took place in Lebanon, northern Israel and the Golan Heights.
It started in July 2006, and continued until a United Nations-brokered ceasefire went into effect in the morning on 14 August 2006, though it formally ended on 8 September 2006 when Israel lifted its naval blockade of Lebanon.
