Iran Condemns Boko Haram Attacks in Nigeria

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham on Monday denounced recent terrorist attacks carried out by Boko Haram militants in northeastern Nigeria, which led to the death of scores of Nigerian citizens.

Condemning the attacks that happened in the past few days, Afkham stressed that terrorism and extremism have no humane and religious base.

"Slaughter of innocent people, under any motive and using any method, is always condemned," she added.

On Friday, twin blasts by Boko Haram terrorists rocked a market  in the northeast Nigerian city of Gombe, leaving 30 people dead.

The armed group has killed thousands in a six-year insurgency in the country's northeast.

Gombe state neighbors the states of Borno, Yobo and Adamawa, which have been most affected by the Boko Haram insurgency that has killed more than 15,000 people in Nigeria since 2009.
