Iranian, US Top Diplomats Continue Nuclear Talks in Austria
VIENNA (Tasnim) - Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and US Secretary of State John Kerry held another meeting in Vienna on Saturday as part of lengthy diplomatic talks to clinch a final nuclear agreement between Tehran and six world powers.
Top Iranian negotiators and deputies to foreign minister, Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht Ravanchi, as well as the European Union's foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini also attended the meeting.
The high-profile meeting, which has become routine for journalists in Vienna, came after Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on Friday gave themselves another three days to reach a long-awaited agreement.
An initial self-imposed deadline of June 30 for a final nuclear deal has been extended several times in the past 10 days.
Earlier in the morning, Kerry held a separate bilateral meeting with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
French foreign minister, Laurent Fabius, has also returned to Vienna to proceed with the talks.
Diplomats say the talks have made progress, but there still remain key issues that should be settled.
