Caspian Sea Littoral States Plan Meeting on Environmental Issues
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Officials from the Caspian Sea littoral countries are planned to hold a meeting later this month on environmental efforts to prevent pollution of the sea, a senior official at Iran's Environmental Protection Organization (IEPO) announced.
Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency on Saturday, Ziauddin Almasi, the director general of the IEPO's marine pollution study office, said representatives of the littoral states of the Caspian Sea will hold talks on May 31.
He added that the regional meeting will be a significant event for the protection of the sea.
It will prepare the ground for other gatherings, including a meeting between the heads of the environmental protection organizations of the countries, Almasi said.
"Fortunately, serious measures have been taken by the littoral states and there are good collaborations among them to protect the sea," he went on to say.
