IAEA Delegation in Iran to Address 2 Remaining Issues

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A delegation from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is in Tehran to hold talks with the Iranian officials as part of efforts to resolve two remaining issues in a string of steps Iran has taken to cooperate with the UN nuclear agency.

Spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi said on Sunday night that the visiting team will hold a meeting with the AEOI officials in Tehran on Monday, noting that Iran’s Foreign Ministry officials will also attend the meeting.

The UN agency’s team is led by Tero Varjoranta, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Safeguards. Massimo Aparo, head of Iran Task Force in the Department of Safeguards of the IAEA is also in the delegation.

Kamalvandi said the talks are aimed at resolving two remaining issues in the third stage of cooperation between Iran and the IAEA.

Iran has already started taking transparency measures within the framework of an agreement it signed earlier with the agency.

The spokesman, however, noted that efforts to put an end to those two subjects is “not an unlimited process,” stressing that talks should come to a conclusion.
