Iranian Speaker Condemns Murder of 3 US Muslims
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani on Sunday condemned the shooting death of three young American Muslims in North Carolina, and deplored the West’s “double-standard” attitude toward the killing of people when it comes to the Muslim lives.
“The killing of a number of young Muslims in the US once again outraged Muslims all over the world. What is deplorable is the double standards of the Western official and media on the killing of Muslims and non-Muslims,” Larijani said at the Sunday session of the parliament.
His comments came after a 46-year-old man gunned down three young Muslims in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on February 10.
Newlywed Deah Shaddy Barakat, 23, a University of North Carolina dental student, his wife, Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, 21, and her sister, Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, 19, a student at North Carolina State University, were killed in a condominium about two miles (three km) from the UNC campus.
While the incident generated public outrage, US President Barack Obama condemned the deaths on Friday after three days.
Elsewhere on his remarks, the Iranian speaker said such double-standard policy in the West cause “security crises” in the world and infuriate people.
On Thursday, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan criticized Obama and other US leaders for their silence about the incident, which has garnered international attention.
