VP: Iran Ready to Send Agricultural Technologies to Iraq's Kurdistan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iranian vice-president announced that the country is prepared to export agricultural products and technologies to Iraqi Kurdistan region, as part efforts to promote bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries.

“There are many areas of mutual cooperation. As far as the field of technology is concerned, we are fully ready to cooperate with Iraqi Kurdistan,” Iranian Vice-President for Science and Technology Affairs Sorena Sattari said at a meeting with Iraqi Kurdistan’s Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources Abdul-Sattar Majid Qadir on Tuesday.

He also expressed the hope that the two sides would be able to further boost ties in diverse spheres.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Sattari voiced Tehran’s readiness to promote cooperation with Kurdistan in the area of higher education and said Iran can offer technology services through various academic courses and fields.

The Iraqi official, for his part, emphasized that Iraqi Kurdistan is trying to increase agreements and promote cooperation in various fields, including water resources and agriculture.

He also appreciated Iran’s supports for the Arab country in its fight against terrorists from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group.

Iraq has been facing the growing threat of terrorism, mainly posed by the ISIL terrorist group.

The ISIL militants made swift advances in much of northern and western Iraq over the summer, after capturing large swaths of northern Syria.

Amid tensions in Iraq, Iran is known as the first country to help the Arab country and has always voiced support for Iraq’s solidarity and prosperity.
