“Iran is an important neighbor of Iraq and there are historical bonds between the two countries,” Masum said in the meeting held in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, according to Alforat news agency.
He also appreciated the Islamic Republic’s role in providing support for the Iraqi nation in all fields.
During the meeting, the two sides also discussed a whole range of issues, including ways to promote bilateral relations in line with the two countries’ interests.
Earlier and at the 7th session of Iran-Iraq joint consular commission held in Baghdad on Monday, the two countries’ diplomats signed a memorandum of understanding to boost bilateral ties between the two Muslim countries.
