President Rouhani Congratulates Bolivia’s Morales on Reelection

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani congratulated his Bolivian counterpart Eva Morales for winning presidential election which extended his term for another 5 years.

Politics

In his congratulatory message, Rouhani described Morales’s landslide victory in the recent presidential election as the result of the national trust and an outcome of continued and devotional efforts by the Bolivian revolutionary people.

He also expressed the hope that the good relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Bolivia would strengthen at bilateral and International levels.

Evo Morales easily won a third term as Bolivia's president on the strength of the economic and political stability the coca growers' union leader has brought to the South American country.

Morales, a native Aymara from Bolivia's poor, wind-swept Andean plateau, received more than 60 percent of the vote against 25 percent for cement magnate Samuel Doria Medina, the top vote-getter among four challengers.

Morales will now eclipse as Bolivia's longest-serving leader consecutively in office the 19th century Marshal Andres de Santa Cruz, a founder of the republic in power from 1829-1839.
