Iran’s Senior Diplomat to Discuss Nuclear Issue in Paris
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi is set to arrive in French capital Paris later today to continue diplomatic consultations over Tehran's peaceful nuclear program.
In Paris, Araqchi will meet top French negotiator Nicolas de Rivière on ongoing nuclear talks between Tehran and six world powers.
The meeting will come as Iranian diplomats are in intensive diplomatic efforts for a final deal with major world powers over the country’s peaceful nuclear program and the lifting of unjustified sanctions against Tehran.
On Monday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif met with EU's foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton in Brussels in Belgium. The two sides discussed the upcoming talks between Iran and the Group 5+1.
Also, representatives from Iran and six world powers (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) are expected to hold a gathering on the sidelines of the upcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York for talks on Tehran’s nuclear program.
Later, the Iranian foreign minister, at a joint press conference with Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Reynders, described his meeting with Lady Ashton as “good”. He also expressed optimism that the nuclear issue will be resolved in time.
"Given the readiness and political will that I see in all negotiating parties, I hope we can reach a resolution within the next three months," Iranian foreign minister told reporters.
On July 18, after more than two weeks of intensive diplomatic negotiations in Vienna, the two sides agreed to continue talks for another four months.
The parties decided to extend the nuclear talks until November 24 in the hope of clinching a final deal. The four-month extension of the talks began on July 21.
