Iran President Blames Muslim Disunity for Israeli Crimes
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s president Hassan Rouhani said lack of unity among Muslims has emboldened Israel to commit crimes against the people of Palestine.
“If unity was preserved in the Islamic world, the usurper regime (Israel) would not dare to commit so many crimes in an enclave (the Gaza Strip) for 17 days,” he stressed.
The low state of solidarity among the Muslim nations has given the Zionists an impetus to continue committing atrocities against people of Gaza, President Hassan Rouhani said in a cabinet session on Wednesday.
Rouhani also called on the Islamic countries to close ranks against Israel to defend Palestinians.
In relevant comments earlier this month, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said the Israeli regime has taken advantage of “negligence” of Muslims to commit atrocities against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
“The Gaza incidents are utterly disastrous, and the Zionist regime (of Israel) is carrying out the current atrocities by taking advantage of the negligence of the Islamic world,” the Leader said.
Since July 8, Israel has been carrying out airstrikes as well as ground and naval invasion on the besieged Gaza Strip.
Around 650 Palestinians have been killed, while over 4,000 have also been injured in the coastal enclave.
