Iran Raps Israel for Impeding Medical Aid Deliveries to Gaza

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iranian official blasted Israel for blocking the humanitarian aids and medical supplies to the Gaza Strip.

Brigadier General Seyed Mohammad Baqerzadeh, commander of the missing in action (MIA) search committee of Iran's Armed Forces General Staff, said Israeli forces are committing war crimes in Gaza.

He made the comments in a letter to President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer.

Enumerating the Israeli atrocities in the densely-populated enclave of 1.8 million Palestinians, Baqerzadeh censured the Tel Aviv regime for obstructing the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, massacre of civilians and getting advantage of blockade as a war tactic for starving people.

As Israel continues to bomb hundreds of targets in the Gaza Strip, hospitals are facing a shortage of medical supplies. Pre-existing shortages are being exacerbated by heightened need and by the border policies of the Egyptian government, which continues to restrict entry into Gaza.

Gaza’s Health Ministry said in a statement early Sunday that Israeli forces had targeted ambulances trying to evacuate wounded from a heavy artillery shelling in the east of Gaza City.

On July 8, Israel launched air strikes on the Gaza Strip. After 10 days of bombardment of the enclave from the air and sea, the Israeli forces started a ground operation in the Gaza Strip.

More than 500 Palestinians have been killed and thousands more have been wounded in the 14-day Israeli onslaught.

About 75 percent of the deaths in Gaza have been civilians, according to UN estimates.
