NAM Condemns Israel’s “Organized” Crimes
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) strongly condemned the “organized” crimes committed by Israel against Palestinians, calling on concerned international organizations to take action to lift the blockade on the Gaza Strip.
The condemnation came in a statement by twenty representatives of NAM member states during an extraordinary meeting held at the request of Iran's caretaker UN Ambassador Gholam Hossein Dehqani. Iran, which holds the rotating presidency of NAM, arranged the meeting in order to discuss the Israeli regime's atrocities against Palestinians people across the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Dehqani stated that the Zionist regime’s crimes against the Palestinians clearly violate the international rights including the International Humanitarian Law, calling on the United Nations Security Council to carry out its duties to stop Israelis’ atrocities against people in Gaza and to send humanitarian aids to the costal enclave.
During the meeting, the Palestinian representative to the UN Riyad Mansour presented his report on the latest developments and the latest clashes in the region.
Meanwhile, the representatives of NAM member states expressed their solidarity with the Palestinian people and called for an end to the Israeli aggression.
Since Tuesday, more than 120 Palestinians have lost their lives in a series of Israeli air attacks targeting different parts of the besieged Gaza Strip.
The Israeli forces frequently bomb the Gaza Strip and they claim the actions are being conducted for defensive purposes. However, disproportionate force is always used in violation of international law and civilians are often killed or injured.
Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed due to Israeli aggression over the past few years.
Some 1.7 million people in Gaza are deprived of their basic rights, such as freedom of movement, jobs that pay proper wages, and adequate healthcare and education.
