Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari made the remarks during the graduation ceremony of a number of Iranian Navy cadets in the northern city of Rasht.
The commander hailed the presence of the Iranian naval forces in international waters as symbol of Iran’s navy power, and emphasized that knowledge and science are key to the promotion of the force.
In recent years, Iran’s Navy has increased its presence in international waters to protect naval routes and provide security for merchant vessels and tankers.
Last February, Iranian Navy’s 29th fleet of warships entered the Atlantic Ocean for the first time and moved towards the US maritime border.
Tehran has repeatedly assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to other countries, saying that the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.
