The general assembly of the union with 220 members from 36 countries is being held under the motto of ‘Awakening Media Outlets, Voice of Resistance and Confrontation with Religious Sedition.’
The gathering was opened with a speech by President Rouhani. Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh also addressed the assembly live from Gaza City via video conference.
The 5th Islamic Film Market Festival, the 5th Ettehad Festival and the 4th Exhibit of Media Equipment and Technology will be also held on the sidelines of the general assembly, which will end on May 27.
The participating countries are also displaying their latest products and technology in an exhibition underway at the market.
