Azeri Traders Keen to Invest in Iran, Diplomat Says

TEHRAN (Tasnim) — Azeri investors are willing to invest in Iran in a bid to lay the grounds for all-out development of bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Iran Javanshir Akhundov said.

One of the great capacities that exist in Iran’s northern province of Ardebil is the variety of tourist attractions and the potential for cooperation on the economic, industrial and mining areas, Akhundov told reporters during his visit to the province on Monday.

He further touched upon the recent visit by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Iran, and said that the visit opened a new chapter in relations between the two countries.

The Azeri ambassador, during his trip, also met with the head of Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture of Ardabil Province during which the two sides discussed issues of mutual interests.

Iran and Azerbaijan enjoy deep ties in economic, political and cultural areas.

The volume of non-oil trade exchanges between the two countries stands at $500 million, while interactions between private sectors of the two countries are also growing.
